Today the book I have been working on for over a year now has been released with Schott Music:
“Anthology of Women Composers for the Classical Guitar, Vol. 1” - what a moment of joy and pride!
This anthology presents 20 pieces by women from the 16th century to today. Big thanks go to the Schott Verlag, Judith Picard and of course to Heike Matthiesen, who was the driving force behind this idea and did a lot of the initial research. More than two years after her death in Dec. 2023, we are now able to publish Volume 1 - books 2 and 3 will follow soon! This selection collects musical works by female composers, some well-known, some unheard of. I hope it will enter the classical guitar teaching rooms and the performance repertoie and stay there. And, naturally, this is only a beginning. How many pieces by a female composer have you played?
